The Sutherland Visibility Index (SVI) is a numerical way to compare the best engineering
schools in the nation. The SVI
assigned to each school is based on the number of web pages the school has that
meets the specified requirements.
Each site must have the following text stings in them to be counted as a
hit; “_________ Engineering” and “School
Name”.
By looking at the number of web pages a school has much can be determined about that school. The more web pages that can be found the better visibility the school will have for recruiting new students. With more students coming to their university, more money can go into improving the department, making the top schools better and better all the time. Also, if companies can see what the current research is that the school is working on, then more funding is going to come to work on future projects.
See how these Engineering Departments match up with others on the web.
To view chart and data click on the engineering major you wish to view. A new window will open with the data in an excel chart. The chart will take a little time to load up, because it is downloading the most current data.
