Waste Streams - Chips
Chip Morphology Page
Chips can be defined almost completely by the following characteristics:
The reason that you cannot completely define the chip's shape is that irregularities
exist in the chip. As stated before, chips may deform by shear banding
rather than by continuous, uniform shear. This means that they do not have
a true deformed chip thickness. They have a nominal deformed chip
thickness. They may also have kinks within the chip as an inheritance from
near breaks in the chip.
